My Story

My sister is my hero. Dainere is the most inspirational person I know and she touched so many people’s lives. In 2009 our family’s life was turned upside down when Dainere was diagnosed with a cancerous Brain Tumour called 'Medulloblastoma'. In 2012 the tumour relapsed into her spine and her life was cut short at the age of 15 in June 2013. Dainere was the most courageous, selfless and inspiring young person you could ever meet, she worked passionately and tirelessly during her short life to raise awareness and funds for paediatric brain tumours. Her greatest wish in life was that no children in the future would have to suffer as she did and that one day a cure for this horrendous disease will be found.

Dainere's Rainbow Brain Tumour Research Fund was established in conjunction with The Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation to assist the research team lead by Dr David Ziegler; research will be undertaken on three research projects as part of Dainere's Fund.
